… you want to eat a bunch of standard family Mexican restaurant style food, which I usually do, and maybe drink a bright yellow margarita in a glass the size of your head. I really don’t want to come off as snotty or dismissive of this food because my family eats at El Caporal II somewhat frequently. I grew up on family Mexican restaurant food and I will always love a well-executed, enormous plate of rice, refried beans, and cheesy enchiladas. Their taco salads–which you’ll probably figure out soon enough are one of my favorite things to eat–are haute cuisine compared to some (::cough cough:: Los Cabos). Also, the baby will go to town on a plate of their rice and beans, so that’s something.
I know there is better Mexican food out there, but that won’t keep me from wanting to eat at El Caporal II. So, if you are in the mood for a friendly and relaxed environment in which to eat some pretty tasty (though inauthentic) Mexican food, I recommend El Caporal II.
